Publication Ethics

The International Journal of Islamic Law and Society (IJILS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. The journal follows ethical publishing principles to ensure the quality, integrity, and credibility of scholarly publications. All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers, are expected to uphold ethical standards and academic integrity.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to IJILS must ensure that:

  • The submitted work is original and has not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.
  • All data and information presented in the manuscript are accurate and free from fabrication, falsification, or manipulation.
  • Proper acknowledgment and citation of sources are provided for all referenced works.
  • The manuscript does not contain any form of plagiarism.
  • Authorship is limited only to individuals who have significantly contributed to the research and writing process.
  • Any potential conflict of interest related to the research or publication must be disclosed.

Authors are responsible for revising their manuscripts according to editorial and reviewer comments within the specified timeframe.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Evaluating manuscripts solely on the basis of academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Ensuring a fair, objective, and confidential review process.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclosing information to unauthorized parties.
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest in the editorial and review process.
  • Taking appropriate action when ethical complaints or publication misconduct are identified.

Editors have full authority to accept, reject, or request revisions to submitted manuscripts.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct reviews objectively, professionally, and constructively.
  • Provide clear and scholarly feedback to assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
  • Identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors.
  • Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct.
  • Decline the review process if there is any conflict of interest with the authors or the research topic.
